FIRST LESSONS FOR MY CHILDREN
First things first:
Not many things come easy on the first try. Tighten up your laces and try again.
Don't let your pride keep you from being the first to apologize, especially if you're both in the wrong.
You can't come in first all the time. There are memories to be made and lessons to be learned in losing.
Be the first person to invite the new kid to sit next to you at lunch. It will make a difference.
How you react to peer pressure the first time will determine how it's presented to you moving forward. Remember what we've taught you.
Being the first to hand in a test could be good or bad. Only you can prepare enough to know the difference.
Your first love and your first heartache could be the same person. Hop off that bus at the next stop, there will be another one coming.
When in doubt, trust your gut. Your first instinct is trying to tell you something.
You only get one opportunity to make a first impression. Use your manners, have a strong handshake and BE KIND.
Don't be afraid to take risks. Diving head first into the pool is more exhilarating than testing the water with your toe.
Your first car and your first house should not be out of your means. You don’t have to keep up with the Joneses to have quality friends.
Experiencing something first hand is much better than through a screen. Put the phone down and go to the concert, watch the sunset, visit the museum.
Taking the first step towards your happiness can be hard. Whether it's leaving a job, ending a relationship, or taking your health more seriously, find a support system that will help you take it.
Remember your priorities and never feel guilty about putting family first.
You may not believe in love at first sight, but then you will have kids and you will start to believe in many things you didn't before.
I have been able to witness many firsts in your life. Your first smile, first words, first steps. I hope to be there to see your first dance, your first born, your first home. Cherish every first you get to experience.
Last but not least, never forget that from the first thing in the morning to the last thought before bed you are loved beyond measure. I loved you first.
